Newspaper cartoon a hate crime, Islamic group claims

"The whole purpose of that cartoon was to comment on the outrageous demands of this individual for compensation long before any hearing into her case had ever been held," he (Bruce MacKinnon) said.

It's not the first time that Bruce MacKinnon's cartoons in the Chronicle-Herald has stirred up controversy and is accused of promoting hate. Just two months after this cartoon ran, he published a cartoon of Barrack Obama on the lawn of the White House saying, "Well first off that sign's gonna have to go!"
